The Celtic Explosion - [Deb]

Hi Everyone,

     We are just two days away from "The Celtic Explosion" Concert that we are doing November 15th, at 7pm.  Today at 12:30, we were interviewed on WEAU TV Channel 13, Eau Claire, WI.  They very kindly advertised our concert and we had an enjoyable time with them.  Here is a link to the interview if you would like to see it:

MPK Christian Celtic Band joins the Chippewa Valley Pipes and Drums to bring a taste of Scotland to Neillsville High School auditorium.

Let MPK Christian Celtic Band and the Chippewa Valley Pipes and Drums infuse your November with a taste of Scotland. Come and see them in concert at Neillsville High School Auditorium, Saturday November 15th at 7pm. MPK and Chippewa Valley Pipes and Drums will present an evening of Scottish fiddling, Scottish Highland Dance, some original tunes from MPK, bagpipes and drums. Refreshments will be served at intermission.

Admission at the door: Adults: $7.00, Students and Seniors $5.00. Children 11 and under free.

The Chippewa Valley Pipes & Drums has performed in parades and standup performances since 1987 throughout Western Wisconsin. In 2000 they participated in a gathering of 10,000 pipers and drummers in Edinburgh, Scotland. Each year they celebrate the birth of Robert Burns with a dinner, piping, dancing and other entertainment.

MPK Christian Celtic Band and Chippewa Valley Pipes and Drums bring a taste of Scotland to Neillsville High School Auditorium

Neillsville WI– Let MPK Christian Celtic Band infuse your November with the a taste of Scotland. At 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, the 15th of November, MPK will perform its own unique blend of Scottish fiddling/ Celtic music, including some original tunes. MPK is sure to entertain and inspire with it’s toe tapping fiddling and dance, songs with a message, and poetry. An event for the whoe family!

MPK (alias MaMa and the Preacher’s Kids) is made up of seven members, all from one family. Ron Johnson is the MC and Scottish historian and Pastor of Our Father’s House in Chili, WI.. Deb Johnson is the MaMa, whose talents include writing many of the original songs of the group, vocals, classical and electric guitar, violin and mandolin. Preacher’s Kid Dawn Wolf, her adult daughter, is also a songwriter and vocalist and performs on flute, whistles and bass guitar. Maranatha Johnson, Preacher’s teenage Kid, is a vocalist who plays keyboard and guitar, is currently learning the bagpipes and dances Highland dance. Joanna Johnson, Preacher’s other teenage Daughter, performs violin and vocals, highland dance and has been in Ballet since age 7. Preacher’s grandkid Noah Wolf plays bodhran, electronic drums and djembi, and is a keyboardist in his own right. All of this talent is channeled to MPK’s audience by sound-tech Alex Garbisch, an "adopted" Preacher’s Kid, who operates a Yamaha EMX 5000 board. Alex is also an accomplished actor who has performed in over 4 major productions with Neillsville Area Players and other acting groups. You will see him in our skits

MPK hails from Central Wisconsin, and has also performed in four different states around the country. During the summer of 2007, MPK performed a number of times in Scotland, including playing in a ceilidh (pronounced KayLee) on the Isle of Barra. The group is a member of the Wisconsin Gospel Music Association (WGMA). MPK has a message and a ministry that it wants to share. Check out its website at www.mpkband.com.
